What is an LED screen for a laptop?LED stands for light-emitting diode. An LED screen uses an array of smaller, more efficient diodes, rather than fluorescent bulbs, to create a brighter picture that can even be seen in sunlight. An LED screen has more colors and a crisper, clearer display. Also, LED screens are more lightweight than other screen types. They don't get as hot as other types of screens either since they don't use fluorescent bulbs.
How do you replace a screen on your laptop?Each laptop model may have a slightly different procedure, so refer to owner's instructions. The general guidelines for replacement are listed below.
First, make sure you find a compatible LCD screen for your laptop. Start by checking identification and model numbers to determine which LCD screen you need. You will need a small, magnetic Phillips-head screwdriver.
- Make sure the laptop is unplugged and remove the battery.
- Remove the cover stickers to reveal the screen bezel's screws. Remove the screws and pry the screen bezel away from the back of the case. Remove the remaining two screws on each side on the top, and lift the LCD screen.
- Disconnect the video cable from the back of the LCD.
- Attach the new LCD screen to the video cable and begin replacing the screws and screen bezel just as you removed them.
- Put your battery back in, and your laptop should be ready to use.
